This contemporary woodland garden wraps itself around a sleek, modern house with large floor to ceiling glass walls and doors.

Plants are selected to cope with varying levels of shade created by the existing mature Oak and Lime trees. As the garden is on view year-round the plants need to work hard to earn their keep. Flowering plants were chosen not only for their prolonged flowering period but also for their foliage which is what gives this garden its character.

Mass plantings of spring flowering bulbs light up the garden before the tree come into leaf and the canopies close over.

A resin-bonded gravel path leading from a polished concrete terrace cuts through the planting, wrapping around the house for easy access through the whole garden. This project was featured in Gardens Illustrated June 2016 edition
